Bottom closing station:
In the bottom closing station the book stacks are being held on the bottom by support brackets while being secured with the inserter / counter plate. The case sleeve, centered by flapps, is then moved over the book stacks. Both inner bottom flaps of the case are prefolded, the support brackets are removed out of the case while the servo driven indexing system moves the case out of the bottom closing station. After that the side flaps are folded.
Bottom layer magazin:
To avoid any damage of the books during transport or when opening the cases a bottom sheet (corrugated board) is being palced underneath the book stack. A suction cup arm takes the bottom sheet out of the magazine and places it underneath the layer plate.
Top sheet magazin:
A servo driven suction plate will take the top sheet out of the magazine and place it from the top into the open case.
Case sleeve magazine:
Suction arms take the carton sleeves out of the magazine, erect them and position them above the centering flaps. Once erected the case sleeve is synchronically moved over the book stack. The bottom closing mechanism locks the case sleeve in place and the suction arm release the case.
Top closing station:
In the top closing station, located immediately after the cartoner, the top flaps are being folded and closed by applying a tape on the top and bottom of the case.
