Bayerische Milchindustrie eG packs its products with OYSTAR Benhil's Multipack 8000, the world's highest output wrapping machine, and the OYSTAR A+F Setline
Bayerische Milchindustrie eG (BMI) has installed the new Multipack 8000 from OYSTAR Benhil at its Zapfendorf plant. The modern, high output wrapping machine currently packs butter from the Paladin brand in three different pack sizes at a rate of 250 packs per minute. Used in conjunction with an OYSTAR A+F Setline end-of-line packaging machine, the all-new, double-cell Multipack 8000 has significantly increased the production capacity of the BMI plant, as Friedrich Fischer, plant manager at BMI Zapfendorf, confirms. BMI has put its faith in the abilities of OYSTAR companies since 1979.
The Multipack 8000 from OYSTAR Benhil raises the bar in several respects: It is the world's highest output machine for wrapping pasty products such as butter, margarine, and lard. Capable of processing up to 250 packs per minute ranging from 100 to 500 grams in size, the machine is extremely flexible in terms of the formats it supports, which makes it unique in the field of high-performance machinery.
At BMI Zapfendorf, the Multipack 8000 packs butter in pack sizes of 200, 250, and 400 grams in aluminum-clad paper. Moving at a rate of 125 strokes per minute, it feeds 250 packs per minute into the OYSTAR A+F Setline, which places 40 packs of butter in each box. 'It was an important decision criterion for us to have the entire solution from a single source. We are used to excellent service from OYSTAR' says Mr. Fischer of the cooperation between the two companies. BMI Zapfendorf has been working exclusively with palletizers from OYSTAR A+F for many years.
From a technical perspective, the Multipack 8000 is without rival. Constant time dosing enabled by individual servo-drives ensures optimum filling accuracy at variable operating speeds. The reproducibility of product-dependent filling profiles is safeguarded by an extensive recipe management system. The Multipack 8000 is equipped with a leakage-free dosing system which also ensures that products are handled particularly gently. Finally, with its clear structure and spatial separation of the drive and product areas, the modular machine concept facilitates not only operation and maintenance but also meets increased hygiene requirements in production. As Mr. Fischer confirms, this puts the Multipack 8000 way ahead of the competition in terms of technology, space requirements, and speed.
Between 200,000 and 300,000 liters of milk are processed every day at BMI Zapfendorf to make butter, yoghurt, cream, crème fraiche, sour cream, milk, and buttermilk, all of which are marketed under the Paladin and Frankenland brands. To handle this, powerful machinery is absolutely imperative. Thanks to its flexible range of formats, the Multipack 8000 makes it possible to tap into entirely new markets, Mr. Fischer explains. With its three business areas of dry products, fresh products and cheese, and primary dairy, BMI is already well positioned. The company exports over half of the 350 products in its range. The BMI plant in Zapfendorf processes milk into fresh products only. Decentralized production allows BMI to keep transportation routes short, thereby protecting not only valuable raw materials but also the environment.
